When done right, cream eyeshadows can be a great alternatives to powder formulas, offering convenience and versatility. Tom Ford's Cream Color for Eyes definitely has its appeal, though not enough to keep it from a great rating, especially given its price.
Cream Color for Eyes comes in standard cream shadow packaging: A glass pot with a twist-off lid. The formula itself feels great: It's smooth, mousse-like, and glides across lids like a dream. The initial color payoff is strong, with bold coverage from just a couple of swipes.
This shadow is also easy to blend and dries to a soft powder finish. All of the shades have slight shimmer to them, though the shimmer doesn't flake throughout the day.
The issue with this shadow is whether with and without primer, it creases within the first couple of hours it's on, particularly if you have oily lids.
More bad news: That bold color you start out with fades a lot as the day goes on, appearing as a sheer wash of color by the end of a standard workday.
We wish these drawbacks weren't an issue, as the initial color, application, and texture are great! As is, fans of great cream eyeshadows should check out the ones you'll find on our list of Best Eyeshadows.
