Burberry claims this BB cream is all about creating a youthful glow while combining the benefits of skincare and makeup in one product. The wafting scent is the first indicator that they're off to a bad start by including the potential irritants lavender and fragrance (see More Info). Even more to the point, this is a boring formula from an anti-aging perspective because the superstar ingredients are included only in a minuscule amount.
Hydration is one benefit that those with dry skin can get from this BB cream, but the ultra-dewy finish is almost overkill; it can make you look sweaty or oily rather than fresh-faced. Unfortunately, the finish is also accompanied by an unpleasant tacky feel.
Coverage is very sheer, and the shade range is limited to three options: Fair, Medium, and Dark. Fair is a bit too dark for truly fair skin and Dark is more of a medium-tan shade with warm undertones.
Considering the tacky feel, the potential for irritation, and the minimal benefit in terms of coverage and anti-aging ingredients, this BB cream falls below the standard. We'll give Burberry props for the broad-spectrum sun protection, but even then, a higher SPF of at least 30 is preferred.
This is a classic case of expensive doesn't mean better! Check out our top-rated BB creams for superior recommendations.
